Seven Angels

Seven angels came calling
To keep me alive
Armed with their reason and their righteousness and pride
They set up their camp on the right side of town
and they waited and they watched while I kept them around
My father owned a graveyard bar full of ancient souls,
over run with common tales and stories over-told
I never understood at all
To me he seemed so old
But his years have made him wise

My mother was a weaker sort

At least that's what the neighbors said
As the gossip filled their time
